The male is probably 6.5" and the female 5.5". I love them! My favourite fish! :)

The male seems to have put on a bit of a growth spurt since downing 100 river shrimp with the Mrs.!! LOL!!

I've still got around 50 of their offspring between 1.5" -2" growing on.

I'm a happy man!!! My pair of Haits have spawned............ been a while since they last spawned............... which is no problem really as the female has been growing steadily, which I'd rather..........................

I'm a firm believer mature water is the key here................. the more mature the better............... water changes only put them off....................

Yeah, they're doing very well still! Just under 50 of them and between 1.5" and 2". :) Cute!

The eggs hatched out late Friday................ as the tank they are in is at work.......... I couldn't observe them the weekend............ By Monday, the eggs were gone, the parents had gone back about their business........... a bit of a bummer really................ then out of nowhere yesterday.......... I spotted a large cloud of freeswimmers under a bit of bogwood............ YAHOO!!

It was very misleading how the pair didn't tend the nest or give away it's location............. interesting! "Blink"

I removed the fry last Friday and they are doing well in a 2x1x1, where they will grow on for the foreseeable future..................... :)

The pair are pre-spawning again already! :) Great fish!! Equal Fav's to my Pantos!! :)

Graham, I'd say about 6" Total Length!!

Last time he put on a serious growth spurt after eating 150 River shrimp with the Mrs............ which was also a spawning trigger................ so a trip to Maidenhead may be in order!! :)

Rick man, I also missed this thread. Awesome fish! How you keep up with water change schedule, doing anything extra for this highly sensative guys?
What is their diet?
My Cuban love veggie, did you try it with Black&Nasty?

Actually, Graham, the male is more like 7" and the female more like 5.5" or so.............

Alex, water changes is simple, I change around 30% daily, some days I change over 100% as I do a few big 50% water changes in the same day with stored water, RO water, mixed with tap. They seem to like it! They do hang from the surface as soon as I put a hose in the tank though. Very strange behaviour.

I feed them Tetra Prima and Hikari pellets, they don't recognize anything else as food as I raised them on New Life Spectrum 1mm sinking pellet because I was so worried about bloat when they were small! They do get the odd treat of River Shrimp too! :) The only other thing I do for them, is NOTHING. Don't add any other fish or take any away.................. don't want to introduce anything nasty................... this works well thus far! :)

His former owner gave him a good start!! ;) ;) He's got a lovely goldy/yellow hue to him! :) I'm in love! :)

He does seem a slow grower though! :( Some more River Shrimp is in order I suspect!! A good kick in the pants to get him going............ I think they may even spawn again soon............. fingers crossed! :) I'll need to get hold of some earthworms and give 'em a go Graham! :)

I decided to move the pair on to provide me with more tankspace to work with more Herichthys species.

This was a very hard decision to come to............ I had some silly offers for the pair, but in the end, I decided to sell them to Simon for a loss, who's only just down the road. This way I can still follow along with them and if he ever decides to move them on they come straight back to me! :)

Attached are a couple of pics of them coming out of their bucket before going into their new home!

Thats hard to do (to let own fish go). I am too, get very attach to them, but sometimes once they out, you'll quickly forget about them and happy to work with new species.
Also important to know, they in the good hands.

Know what you mean tho' Rick, i have said many a time that i'll never sell my pair of dovii, but they're gone now, at least you can go and see how they are now and then.

Well, I managed to get some Grandchildren from my pair of Haitiensis. I got a pair from Ross, but only 3 inches. One male, one female. They are in a 5x20x24 to themselves, well, one pleco as well.

I brought them home last Monday and had to split them up after a few days as the male was a bit boisterous and tore the female's caudal fin up a bit. Nothing too serious though.

This AM I put the male back to her and thought I'd better check on them................ to my surprise they look about to spawn any minute. ;) Which is great news. I'm setimentally attached to these. Hope they can get the deed done come AM! ;)
